TOM GITOGO

Tom joined listed CIC Insurance Group in November 2014 and was the Group CEO between March 2015 and Oct 2019 when he retired at 50 years.  He was in charge of the group’s businesses in Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan and Malawi. The group has interest in short term, life and medical insurances as well as interest in properties and fund management.

Before joining CIC, Tom was the CEO Pan Africa Life (now Sanlam Insurance) – which like CIC is also listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange. Tom had joined Sanlam from British American Insurance, another listed financial services group where he was the Finance Director.

Tom served as the Vice Chairman of International Cooperatives and Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF) www.icmif.org  between Mar 2015 and Oct 2019. During his tenure, he articulated matters pertinent to the African continent in various presentations that he made on international forums in USA and Europe.

Tom was for many years the Kenyan representative in the Life Forum of Africa Insurance Organisation (AIO) www.african-insurance.org where his presentations and articulation of solutions were often commended.

As a young man, Tom trained as a Chartered Accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in London where he worked for 5 years before re-joining PwC in Kenya.
